The 19th Assembly District of the State of California
The 19th Assembly District covers northern San Mateo county, including the cities of Brisbane, Burlingame, Colma, Daly City, Foster City, Hillsborough, Millbrae, Pacifica, San Mateo and South San Francisco. The incumbent Assemblywoman, Jackie Speier, cannot run again in 1996 due to term limits. The district favors the Democrats in registration, and traditionally the Democratic primary winner has also won the general election.
