I believe the public has the right to now how much money I've raised for my campaign, where that money has come from, and how it is being spent. While this information must be reported under current law, it is not easily accessible to the general public. Proposed legislation by Assemblywoman Jackie Speier, which I support, would require this data to be filed electronically by campaigns and made available to the public over the Internet. As a proof of concept to show that this is technically feasible, I am reproducing on-line some of the data which I currently file on paper in Sacramento and at the San Mateo County Elections Office.
